CUPE 6364 is part of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Canada’s largest union with over 700,000 members across Canada. CUPE 6364 are healthcare workers located at the Lakeridge Health Ajax, Bowmanville, Oshawa, Port Perry, Uxbridge, Durham housing and including 21 off sites.
The members of CUPE Local 6364 provide all aspects of care and services to ensure our patients needs are met. We have over 2,400 members employed in over 106 classifications.
We represent:
Registered Practical Nurses, who’s roles and responsibility are to care for patients and a nurse who takes into account the mind, body, spirit of all persons, groups, communities and populations with whom they are working.
Unit Clerk, Secretary, Health Information Management, Registration Clerks, Senior Clerks do a wide variety of clerical duties. They have a dynamic and integrate role, with a high volume of responsibility.
Environmental Service workers ensure the hospital is properly cleaned so that our patients are protected from hospital acquired infections.
Tradespersons and staff of Building Services are tasked with keeping all 6 sites maintained and repaired.
Nutrition Services staff prepare and deliver meals to ensure the nutritional needs of our patients are met, while ensuring proper diet restrictions are adhered to.
Surgical Suite Assistants and Endo Aides in the Medical Reprocessing department are responsible for cleaning and sterilizing all surgical instruments at all 5 sites.
The Materials Management staff provide and maintain supplies to medical units as well as clinics, office’s.
Our patient transport (porters) staff safely transfer our patients to their necessary tests throughout the hospital.
The Dialysis Assistants assist the nursing staff in setting up/maintaining the equipment necessary to provide the dialysis treatments for our admitted patients and for those in the community.
Each member of CUPE has an important and necessary role which is necessary to ensure all the needs of our patients have been met and to create a warm and friendly client experience.
